Sexual health literacy and associated factors in pregnant women

Abstract


Sexual health literacy is very important for the development of both sexual and reproductive health. This study aims to determine the sexual health literacy and associated factors in pregnant women living in the Central Anatolia region in T¸rkiye. This is a crosssectional study and was carried out with 172 pregnant women who applied to primary care clinics in the Central Anatolia region in T¸rkiye between July and September 2023. Personal Information Form and Sexual Health Literacy Scale (SHLS) were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage values, independent sample t-test, OneWay ANOVA, Post hoc Tamhane’s T2 test. The total mean SHLS score of the pregnant women was found to be 57.5±5.8. It was found that the frequency of sexual relationship of the pregnant women was once a week with 55.2% and the majority used different positions during sexual relationship. The sexual health literacy in pregnant women who were high school graduates and had been married for 1-3 years was high
